The balcony was a great rest spot with a table for eating your room service, cushioned lounge chairs and extra sitting chairs as well as an outdoor sink which was helpful to rinse and sun dry bathing suits. The bathrooms were nice, the master had a lovely jacuzzi tub and shower, two sinks and makeup vanity area. The main bathroom had a stand up shower also. The balconies are shared so keep that in mind. The resort could benefit from small privacy dividers that could be up or down (if a family rents both sides).
The pools are great. There are two both with walk outs shallow ends. The larger pool has a few nice water features like a waterfall and fountains. There are like 4 or more outdoor jacuzzis. I visited the one by the fire pit nightly after dinner, was nice to soak and listen to the waves crashing.
That leads me to the beach. I was lucky enough to go out and swim one time before it got crazy and it got crazy. Huge big waves crashing on the beach: the beach is very steep so only a small section by hotel has chairs but the sand gets so hot and water is rough, it’s more a sit by the pool resort in my opinion. There are two swim up bars and open kitchen that makes excellent tacos and Lunch items, La Parrilla. Drinks were good and lots of variety. My favorites were goddess martini and lover’s T.
For breakfast we ate at La Casona, there is a nice buffet but you can also order custom eggs, omelettes, eggs Benedict etc. We also ate here at least 3 nights for dinner. The staff was amazing always remembering us and making my moms birthday special. Martin, Axel, Paola, Antonio and Escarlet all so lovely. Salvador makes the BeST fresh Caesar salad dressing also. The apps, steaks, all the food here was spot on high end dining. We also tried Neptune next door at Villa Del Arco. The view there was breathtaking, second floor overlooking the rocks and beach. The food here was also amazing. Do not leave without having their molten chocolate cake either.
From the moment I booked here the concierge was amazing. I was able to ship balloons from Amazon and a custom birthday banner and they set up the balloons in the rooms as a surprise for my moms 75th birthday.
The frustrations: I had an issue where the credit card I used to book last year had to get shut down for fraud and since I had a different credit card upon arrival, they wouldn’t honor what was already paid, almost $2k. They insisted I had to get a refund of what was already paid, and then they would recharge my new card the full amount, on top of the $500 USD hold. This seemed a little bizarre considering the payments were made last year and 5 months ago and since paid off on that card. They also couldn’t give me anything in writing that they were granting the refund which was concerning, and I didn’t want to sign a new charge slip until I saw a receipt for refund but they wouldn’t go blue me my keys unless I repaid and insisted they would take care of it. It took me until my last day to get a receipt for that refund after having to stop in every day, but it all worked out. Jovany at reception understood my frustration even though he told me he would reach back out with status updates and never did. I did have to check with front desk in person every day for something in writing. Not sure why the refund couldn’t be processed right away. I am still waiting for the refund of the second partial payment.
The other oddity was I had a promo for $150USD resort credit, but they do not give you $150USD as the full credit . They convert it to their own exchange rate for the day, which is less than the actual exchange rate by at least $2USD. You are essentially losing value for your USD by their conversion from what it seems to me. I thought the conversion was only for when you want to exchange USD to pesos in the resort in person, as they have a big sign at front desk, but seems they do their own conversion rate. I’m surprised this is allowed. If this was in fine print somewhere, I totally missed it. I should have honestly gotten a credit in USD if that was what was in my promo. If they can charge my room in USD, why not grant the credit in USD?
Desert spa: amazing. Best deep tissue massage I’ve had in awhile and with the coconut milk bath immersion, having your head massages while laying in a bath was just heaven. Lizbeth was great and there is an amazing eucalyptus steam rooms and several jacuzzis and cold plunge. You have to visit.
Having a little supermarket onsite was also great. We didn’t explore much off the resort but I hear there is a lot to do nearby. Enjoy!
All in all, a fantastic trip despite the shared balcony, issue with hotels own exchange rate, and I still am waiting for the rest of my refund several days after check out. Only partial went through. More
